About Viva Musica

Viva Musica is a registered non-profit society established in 1991 by Music Director Roslyn Frantz and Artistic Director Neal Facey.  Viva provides a performance venue primarily for Okanagan singers and musicians, both professional and non-professional.

Our mandate is to produce high-calibre musical theatre and operatic works accessible to and enjoyed by a wide audience. We are committed to youth participation by developing technical training programs for young artists and technicians. In addition, we promote community involvement by volunteers and local business.
Our endeavor has been a great success.

In the past decade we have staged highly acclaimed productions of such world famous operas as:
Die Fledermaus, The Magic Flute, The Marriage Of Figaro, La Boheme, The Pirates Of Penzance and The Elixir of Love.

We have also very successfully performed the musicals Show Boat, The Music Man, Evita, Cabaret, Westside Story, Beauty and the Beast, Cats and Miss Saigon. We have a long running relationship with the Vancouver Opera. For the past three years, we have brought in the Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble to perform for local elementary school students and for the general public.

Viva Musica has remained true to its mandate by developing a strong core of over 70 production volunteers and chorus members. Each year, we provide employment and work experience for local students and emerging professional singers and artists. We provide technical training and summer work opportunities that are unavailable anywhere else in the province. We also provide employment for several symphony musicians.
